Hi there! My name is AJ, and I’m currently a junior mechanical engineering student at the University of Kansas.
My interest in engineering comes from a passion for building practical things that make everyday life better. Through coursework, hands-on projects, and internship experience, I enjoy taking ideas and turning them into real, functional solutions.
Currently, I’m continuing to grow my skills in design, manufacturing, and problem-solving through my work at Huhtamaki, where I’m exploring how mechanical engineering can be used to improve processes, products, and people’s daily lives.
You can learn more about my experience in my resume.
Experience
Huhtamaki is a global leader in sustainable foodservice and consumer packaging; I support manufacturing engineering projects by designing parts in Onshape to address production issues and creating floor plans in AutoCAD to improve layout and workflow. I also analyze how paper-based materials move through high-speed equipment, identify causes of jams, misfeeds, wear, and downtime, and help develop practical solutions for food-grade packaging production. Hallmark is a global creative products company focused on helping people connect through greeting cards, gifts, and ornaments. I supported the operation and maintenance of high-speed packaging and printing equipment used in a manufacturing facility. I assisted with diagnosing mechanical issues, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and line efficiency improvements. My work exposed me to mechanical systems, automation, industrial workflows, downtime reduction, and troubleshooting on active production equipment, helping me connect classroom engineering concepts to real-world manufacturing challenges.
